Arthur Ray Thompson of Dallas has been charged with criminal mischief causing damage between $750 and $2,500 and deadly conduct after he threw a six foot long 2x4 at a tractor trailer rig heading down Interstate 20 in Gregg County Friday afternoon according to the Longview News Journal.

His reason: he was wanting a courtesy ride from officers to the county line. He did his deed to get the attention of police.

He succeeded.

The 2x4 hit the truck's windshield, causing about $1,000 in damage.

Thompson's deadly conduct charge was added because the diesel was traveling at 75 miles per hour, the speed limit, and could have caused "immediate danger of injury or death" according to the arrest affidavit.
