Gallery Main Street’s newest exhibit, “Bits and Pieces,” will open with a reception for the public on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Gallery, located at 110 W. Erwin St.

“Bits and Pieces” will feature the work of 15 artists with art created with media ranging from silver hoops and beads to traditional acrylics and photography.

A special feature of the event will be a “vinyl night” with records and music presented by Ariesteo Rodriguez of El Guapo records, a new vinyl shop in Downtown Tyler.

“There is a quiet rebirth of part of Downtown Tyler in the 200 South Broadway block,” said Beverly Abell of the City of Tyler Main Street Department. “We’ve had some really great small businesses open in that area, including Moon Rivers Naturals, Lightbox Collective, El Guapo and now ETX Brewing Company.”

Abell added that vinyl nights featuring records have become quite popular in the downtown area.

“By having Aristeo at the gallery opening, we hope to increase awareness of not only his business, but all of the new activity and unique niche businesses that are in Downtown Tyler,” said Abell.

Saturday’s reception will feature an opportunity to meet the artists and purchase artwork. Best in Show will be announced at approximately 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

“We especially invite our guests to make it a complete evening by enjoying drinks and dining at our variety of Downtown Tyler establishments,” Abell said.

Gallery Main Street is a project of the City of Tyler Main Street Department in cooperation with the volunteers of the Downtown Tyler Arts Coalition and Heart of Tyler, Inc. The gallery opens a new juried exhibit approximately every eight weeks.
