Starting Tuesday (April 4), the new bridge that's been under construction for the last 6 months on Country Road 2138 is open to all drivers.

Smith County issued a press release Tuesday afternoon (April 4) stating the bridge south of Whitehouse is now complete. Prior to construction last year, the bridge was designated as a 'load zoned bridge and was narrow, restricting the use by heavy vehicles," according to Smith County Engineer Frank Davis.

Texas Department of Transportation (or TxDOT) replaced the bridge, which was funded through federal government 'to replace bridge that are restricted and/or substandard'.
