Cats Found Abandoned in Crate Along Longview Trail
(KNUE-FM) There are so many families across Texas that get so much joy from having a pet or multiple pets. Savannah and I have two dogs and they make life so much better after a long day at work. But unfortunately, not all pet owners in East Texas truly do everything possible to care for their furry family members. We were reminded of this last week as there were cats left in a locked crate in a ditch in Longview, Texas.

Animal Control Searching for Suspect
This is not a dig at Longview, as we hear about animals being dumped all over East Texas. It’s a serious problem and we can’t continue having this happen. Officials are searching for who is responsible for leaving the cats behind, but they need help from the public as they don’t have a lot of information to work with.

Cats Found Along Cargill Long Park Trail
The cats were taken in by the Longview Care and Adoption Center after receiving a call about four cats in a ditch along the Cargill Long Park Trail. They were located between Hollybrook and Eden Drive.
No one is sure how long the cats were stuck in the crate before being discovered, but they were covered in their own mess.
The cats are now being cared for and have all been named after The Spice Girls. The names picked were Ginger, Sporty, Baby, and Posh.
How You Can Help the Investigation
We still need to find who is responsible for leaving the cats so if you saw anyone in the area or have any details regarding where the cats came from you’re encouraged to call the Longview Animal Control at 903-237-1290 or email aco@longviewtexas.gov.
