The author of the popular children's book series, Junie B. Jones, Barbara Park has died at age 66.

Parks died on November 15 after a battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband, Richard, and her two sons, Steven and David.

Park is best know for her series that describes the life of Junie Beatrice Jones in an outspoken and hilarious manner. She taught her readers all about life, different types of people and how to grow up in an ever-changing world. More than 30 books were written about Junie B. and her adventures as a grade-school student.

In addition to the Junie B. Jones series, Park also wrote several picture books and middle-school level books.

Park always tried to find a way to relate to her readers - even if that meant thinking like a young child. "Sometimes grown ups don't act their right old age," Park once said.
