The Dallas Cowboys opened their season Sunday night with a dominant win over division rival New York Giants 19-3.

Dominate in that the Cowboys held the Giants to just 49 total yards and two first downs in the first half and led 16-0. It could have been more but Dak Prescott was unusually off when making a couple of potential touchdown passes to Dez Bryant during two of their scoring drives.

The Cowboys got four field goals from "Mr. Reliable" kicker Dan Bailey and a 12-yard touchdown catch from Jason Witten.

Not only did Witten score the only touchdown, but during that same drive, he passed Hall of Famer Michael Irving for the most receiving yards in Cowboys history.

Witten also holds the record for most catches. He ended Sunday night with 1,096 receptions and 11,947 receiving yards for his career.

Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 104 tough yards on 24 carries and Cole Beasley had a catch that will be a top 10 catch for the year.

The Giants gave the Cowboys two of their three losses last season. So this win was a big statement for the Cowboys.

The Giants were without their top receiver, Odell Beckham, Jr., because of an ankle injury. It showed in their lack of getting anything going on offense.

Their pre-season hyped improved defense wore down early as Dallas kept the ball for most of the first half.

Dallas travels to Denver to take on the Broncos next Sunday (September 17) for a 3:25 P.M. kickoff on Fox.
