East Texas Day Of Giving Is May 3rd
East Texas non-profit organizations are always in need of monetary donations and are usually in some kind of fund raising mode. It would be nice if they all had the proper funding to carry out the mission of the organization, but unfortunately that is not the case. Today, May 3rd, has been declared East Texas Giving Day. A day that calls to your attention the need to support and donate money to a local non-profit organization that you believe in.
The purpose of 'East Texas Day of Giving' is to bring the entire East Texas region together on a single day as a single community and shine the light on the need of raising money and spreading awareness of the many non-profits throughout the 32 counties in East Texas. Donors may give online to a specific organization or to a general fund that will be divided up. Participants may also visit some organizations in person to make a difference through live events being held today:
- Tyler - downtown Square until 7 p.m.
- Longview - Heritage Plaza downtown 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Athens - downtown square until 2 p.m.
