East Texas Man Sentenced to Life After 20-Minute Jury Decision
(KNUE-FM) It took jurors less than 20 minutes to decide that one East Texas man should spend the rest of his life in prison for repeated instances of family violence. And it should remind everyone in Texas that there are serious consequences for your actions, especially when those actions involve violence.
Jury Deliberates Less Than 20 Minutes
According to CBS 19, Gun Barrel City police were dispatched to a home on February 27, 2025 after a call came in from a woman requesting an ambulance. When law enforcement arrived on the scene they heard a disturbance inside the home and entered to find the woman who was injured.
The victim eventually relayed to police that 60-year-old Lawrence William Miller was responsible for the injuries and had threatened to kill her over a period of several hours.
This was not the first time law enforcement had to respond to the house. In fact, there were several instances in the past year.

Survivor and Witness Testimony
During the trial there was a previous survivor of Miller’s abuse that testified that he had strangled her in Tarrant County. A former roommate testified that he had seen Miller attack the victim in the past. There were also neighbors who testified that they have heard the victim scream for help.
