Way back in 2015, a short cinematic trailer was shown at E3 in Los Angeles to preview a Final Fantasy VII remake that was in development. Gamers, including myself, were super excited. Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game of all time. I still own it on my original PlayStation.

Between 2015 and 2018, we would get an update here or there. There was even word that production had been scraped and started all over again. But in early 2019, we got word that the game was close to being finished. Preorders went up later in 2019 for a May release which was later changed to an April.

Well, Friday (April 10) I got my deluxe copy in. I was half way through my work day so the anticipation of finishing work to be able to start playing was killing me. But once the job as done, I popped in the disc and I was off.

I am about twenty or so hours in and every minute has been an absolute blast. Getting to see and roam the city of Midgar is breathtaking. Getting to revisit the story I fell in love with 23 years ago has been nostalgic but also a brand new adventure. I can't wait to finish work today and fire it up for some more game play.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available both physically and digitally through the PlayStation store.
