Halloween is on the way! As you begin making plans to celebrate through the month of October, Liberty Hall has events planned for you.

Ghostbusters - Oct. 4

Halloween celebrations begin on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. with a cult classic, the 1984 Ghostbusters. In this movie a team of scientists (Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray) lose their cushy positions at a university in New York City, and decide to become "ghostbusters" to wage a high-tech battle with the supernatural for money. They stumble upon a gateway to another dimension, a doorway that will release evil upon the city. The Ghostbusters must now save New York from complete destruction.

A Nightmare on Elm Street - Oct. 5

On Friday, Oct. 5 we get spookier with a midnight showing of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). In Wes Craven's classic slasher film, several Midwestern teenagers fall prey to Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), a disfigured midnight mangler who preys on the teenagers in their dreams, which, in turn, kills them in reality. After investigating the phenomenon, Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) begins to suspect that a dark secret kept by her and her friends' parents may be the key to unraveling the mystery, but can Nancy and her boyfriend Glen (Johnny Depp) solve the puzzle before it is too late?

Hocus Pocus - Oct. 6

If you like to celebrate Halloween in a more light hearted way, Hocus Pocus is the movie for you. We encourage you to dress like the Sanderson sisters or any other character and come sing along on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. This movie tells the story of teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) who after moving to Salem, Massachusetts, explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story Allison tells, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the kids must steal the witches' book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.

This film takes place on a cold Halloween night in 1963, when six year old Michael Myers brutally murdered his 17-year-old sister, Judith. He was sentenced and locked away for 15 years. But on October 30, 1978, while being transferred for a court date, a 21-year-old Michael Myers steals a car and escapes Smith's Grove. He returns to his quiet hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, where he looks for his next victims.
