Yes, deer season is here. And for most, it's a weekend of sharp shooting that prize buck.

But for a simpleton like myself, it's time for a McRib. The official McDonald's website is already teasing "coming soon".


I don't know what it is about this unhealthy, tangy slab of fake pork on a bun with pickles and onions that makes my mouth water, but I have to have one or two or ten. With apologies to Stanley's Famous Pit BBQ, my favorite BBQ joint in East Texas, I must indulge in this once a year addiction.

Funny thing is, with the exception of their breakfast menu, I don't like McDonald's. The Big Mac, Quarter Pounder or even the McNuggets do nothing for me.

But every fall, for the next month or so, I will visit and indulge in the goodness. And you gotta use the BBQ sauce that drips out to dip your fries in.
