Unusual! More People Quitting Jobs in Texas Than Any Other State!
Some are calling it the Texas Stampede as there are so many people in the great state of Texas that have quit their jobs since the beginning of 2023. There was an article that was published recently by WFAA detailing how over 3,154,000 individuals in Texas have given notice and left their job so far this year. While I applaud anyone who takes steps forward to improve their income it just makes me wonder what is everyone doing to create income?
Ever since the pandemic Texas has always been at the top or at least close to the top when it comes to states with the highest number of people quitting their job. Obviously, Texas has a bigger population than most states, so our numbers are always going to be a bit higher than most. But according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics six out of the first eight month of this year we have had more workers quit than any other state in the country.
Are People Just Jumping Around for Better Pay?
The statistics also show that 4,643,000 people have also been hired in the first eight months of this year so it seems like most people are leaving their job for a better opportunity or better pay somewhere else. It’s hard to fault anyone for leaving to get more money for their family.
Businesses Fighting Over the Best Employees
It happens in most professions; competitors try to poach good employees away. Expect that type of thing to continue as employers are still having a difficult time hiring quality workers. And bosses, it’s time to take care of your good employees, don’t lose some of your best because you’re offering pizza parties and your competitor is offering better pay and work life balance.
