In Texas when you hear about someone smoking something, it might not mean the same thing as other parts of the country.

Around the country when you say smoking, most people are thinking of some sort of tobacco product or in certain states it could be marijuana. In Texas when we talk about smoking something most times, we are talking about the cooking process of smoking something, most commonly being a type of meat.

People Have Started Smoking Fruits

Creativity in the kitchen can be tricky; you want to make something delicious but you’re going to fail more than get it right. And lately people have been smoking fruit in their smokers, and one chef says we need to stop at least one specific fruit.

Brazilian Grill Master, Silvio Correa did an interview with The Takeout and discussed how smoking peaches is not a good idea. As it will compromise the texture of the fruit.

Smoke Meat, Not Peaches

You hear of most people smoking a brisket or racks of ribs, which can be delicious, let’s stick with those and avoid smoking peaches.

Grilling Over Smoking

If you’re wanting to cook or heat your peaches, the chef advises grilling the fruit on high heat which will caramelize the sugars and help maintain its structure.

If you’ve never had grilled fruit before you need to try it, I highly suggest grilled pineapple. It’s a game changer.
