Why Texans Can’t Find the Viral Soft Serve Margarita

(KNUE-FM) Like so many people here in Texas, I spend too much time on social media scrolling through nonsense, but then something catches my eye, and I go down the rabbit hole. So, here I am again looking through TikTok and local Facebook groups to see if I can find any details about this latest TikTok trend known as the soft serve margarita.

Why Is This Drink Trending on TikTok?

The first question I had is where did this come from and why am I seeing it on my feed. So, I asked Google, and from what I see, it’s all about people being creative in the kitchen. The soft serve takes people back to childhood, serving up the nostalgia that people are craving right now.

While there are lots of videos about soft serve margaritas and people asking where to find them in East Texas Facebook groups, I haven’t seen anyone post where you can actually order one.

It didn’t take long for me to put my detective hat on, but I couldn’t find anywhere in the Lone Star State that is making up these viral concoctions.

The Only Place Serving It (For Now)

If you want to try the viral soft serve margarita the only place that I know serving them currently is at La Playa Mexican Restaurant & Mariscos in Cleveland, Ohio.

And while we love trendy things, the idea of driving to Cleveland for Mexican food doesn’t make sense. I think most of us Texans are just going to have to settle for a regular margarita until Mexican restaurants in Texas start jumping on the new trend.
