We all know that immigration is a very hot topic in Texas and across the country right now. It seems like thinks are changing all the time.

But there is new information from NBCDFW reporting that U.S. Customs and Border Protection is working to shut down three temporary processing facilities along the Texas border.

Why are the Processing Facilities Being Shut Down in Texas?

It’s not just Texas that will be removing the soft-sided facilities (SSFs) along the border, as locations in Arizona and California are being dismantled as well.

The reason to remove the SSFs at this point is because they are not needed to process migrants.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents are reporting that nationwide apprehensions have now dropped to about 330 per day.

NBC News is reporting that encounters along the U.S. and Mexico border are at the lowest they have been in 25 years.

It appears everyone is understanding how strict President Trump, and his administration are being toward immigration which is leading to less people attempting to enter the country.

SSFs in the past were used to process and care for migrants and children who were crossing the border illegally.

Where are the SSF Sites Being Shut Down?

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol has started removing the SSF sites in Texas including Donna, North Eagle Pass and Laredo.

Sites in Yuma, Arizona and Tucson, Arizona were also removed as well.

SSF sites will remain open in El Paso, Texas and San Diego, California.

Removing these sites should save between $5 million and $30 million per month.
