Texas Teen Sets Jaw-Dropping Powerlifting Records
(KNUE-FM) One Texas teenager is getting lots of attention lately, for a good reason. She recently set multiple powerlifting records.
Meet Texas Powerlifting Star A’jaLynn Bostic
According to KHOU, A’jaLynn Bostic’s mom always knew she was going to be tough. One day in middle school one boy was picking on her and she stood up to him, which ended with him being shoved ‘over the table.’
Once the story got around, multiple students wanted her to sign up for the football team, which she did in 8th and 9th grades. However, she found that it wasn’t football that she loved, it was spending time in the weight room. And she has been putting in the time and effort ever since then.

Record-Breaking Lifts and Achievements
A’jaLynn Bostic has won state titles all four years, including setting a Girls Powerlifting State Championship record with a bench press of 325 pounds. Another record she set was squatting 550 pounds, and another record was deadlifting 530 pounds. That’s a combined total of 1,405 pounds for someone who stands 5’1”.
As you would expect her parents love to support her. Her mom admits to crying, laughing, and cheering when at the competitions.

The Mindset Behind Her Success
A’jaLynn says, “I don’t want to go in there and like, I’m gonna beat this person. No. I’m just going to beat myself. Going into something it’s like me vs. me.”
That mentality has made her a four-time state champ and a legend at South Garland High School.
Some have made comments about A’jaLynn making a run at qualifying for the Olympic team, but she hasn’t made up her mind if that’s something she wants to work towards or not.
