(KNUE-FM) We have so many tremendous health care workers here in East Texas, but I don’t think any of them show up to work expecting to be assaulted. Unfortunately, that was the case recently in Tyler which resulted in a man being arrested.

Man Arrested After Assault at Tyler Hospital

According to KLTV, 27-year-old Gustavo Sanchez-Castillo was booked into the Smith County Jail last week after he assaulted a nurse. When law enforcement later located him, he decided to resist arrest.

The incident took place at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital where a nurse reported that Sanchez-Castillo struck him multiple times with his fists. The suspect then attempted to leave the hospital emergency room when patient sitters tried to get him to stop. That is when the nurse stepped in and the situation got violent.

The nurse reported visible injury to the officer, also reporting that he was suffering from soreness and pain.

Suspect Found in Nearby Neighborhood

Tyler Police eventually caught up to Sanchez-Castillo on the 1400 block of East Lawrence Street when someone called in reporting a man in a hospital gown would not leave the caller’s front yard. He was found hiding behind a vehicle when officers arrived on scene. He resisted arrest before being thrown to the ground.

He tried resisting arrest again in front of the police patrol car forcing officers to drag him into the vehicle.
