We have an update on a weird and wild story about a ring of thieves who made a lot of money from a scam involving a beloved children's toy.

Back in December, we told you how police uncovered an operation, that spanned several states involving the theft and resale of high-value LEGO sets, with suspects targeting major retail stores and stockrooms.

Cops arrested Brian Fleming (right) who was arrested on Dec. 6 and Shane Joel Gentry (left) who was arrested on Nov. 21 after a traffic stop uncovered a ring of stolen items that the two men were allegedly involved in.

Gentry reportedly sold items on eBay and Amazon, and according to an arrest affidavit, he showed Amazon an invoice for the items from Fleming. The thefts were part of a bigger network of alleged thefts from several Walmart and Target stores in Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Texas, including stores in Longview, Tyler, Kilgore, and Gun Barrel City.

Semetric Danielle Baker of Burnet, TX, was arrested by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

Baker is the third person to be arrested and stands accused of stealing items left behind by Fleming as part of the scam.

Fleming and another man were reportedly caught on video in a Walmart Lego aisle before they left that aisle and bought several low-cost items. When Fleming would leave the store, other members of the ring, including Baker, would come in and pick out the same amount of items that Fleming had bought but from the Lego aisle.

If stopped, they would leave the store without purchasing the Legos and present an altered version of Fleming’s original receipt.

Baker was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity and theft of property greater than $300,000. She’s being held in the Smith County Jail on a total bond of $1,100,000 at the time of this article.
