Your Favorite Zombie Apocalypse Show Films in Austin This Week
The weather is fantastic in Texas this week, and some TV producers are taking advantage of these happy, bright sunny days to film a dark and intense TV series. And one surprise actor is in Austin to be part of it as they add his character back into the story.
"Fear the Walking Dead" has been super popular since it first appeared on AMC in 2015, as a prequel series to "The Walking Dead." Lennie James, who plays Morgan on TWD, was one of the actors on the original series, and he announced this week on Facebook that his character is coming to the new series. He's in Austin today to shoot some scenes, and he said he's looking forward to chowing down on some of that awesome Austin food too. One of the perks of filming in a foodie city.
Fear the Walking Dead films today in Southeast Austin around Shady Cedar Drive and Onion Creek Drive, according KXAN. We know this because they got a city permit to take up space and maybe close off some streets. Austin police will be there too, so plan accordingly if you're going to try to drive over and catch a glimpse. Film crews will be in that area today and tomorrow.
The show also filmed two weeks ago at the baseball field where the Round Rock Express play, north of Austin. Drone pictures captured images of about a dozen production tents set up at the field.
When will the episodes air? They haven't told us that officially, but sometime early next year most likely. For now, we can binge watch the first three seasons, or catch new episodes on Sunday nights at 8pm on AMC.
Soon we'll be recognizing some Texas landmarks and scenery mixed in with all of that sweat and blood.
