Former Texas Star Football Player Insists He Is the Best, Even Right Now

There have been so many amazing football players who have come from the state of Texas. Most people would agree that the best player in the league right now is Patrick Mahomes, as we all known he is from Whitehouse, Texas.  

But a few years ago, one of the best players out of Texas was a defensive stud named Earl Thomas. And he still wants everyone to know that he is the best. He said in a recent interview with Field Gulls that he is still the best at playing his position, even right now compared to everyone in the NFL. 

Why is Earl Thomas Saying He is the Best Right Now? 

There is nothing wrong with people being confident, especially professional athletes that have been working at their sport their entire life.  

But to me it seems like Earl is stirring up conversation because he is eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2025, and he wants to be a first ballot hall of famer. 

Earl Thomas Better Than Other NFL Greats? 

The former Texas Longhorn says, “I’m better than Ed Reed, I’m better than Troy Polamalu.”  

And when he was in his prime, I could see there being a discussion about him being the best. I am a big Earl Thomas fan. But I’m not so sure these words are going to help his chances of making it in the hall of fame in 2025.  

Like many fans, I think that Earl Thomas belongs in the NFL Hall of Fame. But his best chances of getting the gold jacket will probably come if he humbles himself and waits for that call.
