Sun’s Out, Buns Out – Is It Legal To Skinny Dip In Texas?
Look, we've had the urge to simply swim around in the buff. It's a thought that has crossed everyone's mind at least once in there lives. Heck, some might have already done so in their lifetime, particularly in a place as hot as Texas.
But here's the thing: some may do it without discretion. That could result in potential trouble with the law. So to save others from potentially having the authorities get all up in their world, we're here to help.
So let's get the skinny (zing!) on swimming without trunks in the Lone Star State.
Can You Legally Skinny Dip in Texas?
The answer is yes and no. For answers, we found this article from the Austin American-Statesman. It goes intro further detail regarding the dos and don'ts of swimming in Texas.
To start, there is at least one place in Texas where clothing is optional, and that is Hippie Hollow, located right in Austin. The Austin American-Statesman goes into further detail about it, but we're mainly here just to talk about skinny dipping.
According to Texas law, you could get into legal trouble for just deciding to lose the swimsuit. Laws in the Lone Star State strictly prohibit private parts showing in public. Texans could receive charges of disorderly conduct or indecent exposure.
However, there is one caveat to the rule: both men and women can choose to be topless, as the law states that a lady's tatas aren't considered private parts.
If you're on private property, you have the property owners permission, there's no one underage around, and everyone is comfortable and consenting, you can swim in the buff. Just make sure neighbors and passerby can't see you.
But don't even think about skinny dipping in a public pool or swimming hole.
Moral of the story: if you're going to skinny dip in Texas, make sure it is safe to do so, or do it in an area where it is allowed!
