Memorial Day Weekend Crackdown by Texas and Oklahoma Police
(KNUE-FM) We know that law enforcement officers in Texas work hard daily to keep our roads safe, the same can be said about officers to the north in Oklahoma.
With the upcoming Memorial Day weekend quickly approaching I have seen messaging from law enforcement in both states about working to eliminate something during the holiday weekend.
Both states will be putting a special emphasis on making sure everyone in a vehicle is wearing their seatbelts.
Launched Annual ‘Click it or Ticket’ Campaign
According to KETK, the Texas Department of Transportation just kicked off their annual campaign in an effort to eliminate people on the road without wearing a seatbelt.
This campaign will be enforced until June 1st, and you can guarantee that if you’re caught without a seatbelt, you will be stopped and most likely you will get a citation.

Lots of Lives Saved by Seatbelt Campaign
Tyler traffic specialist with TxDOT, Heather Singleton said, “We’ve estimated that we’ve saved almost 10,000 lives by doing this event.”
While no one expects to be in a crash when they get into a vehicle, it happens, so you need to do everything possible to protect yourself and others in your vehicle.

Don’t Put Your Family Through the Tragedy
One of the toughest things I saw in my life was the look on my grandparents face after finding out that one of their grandkids was killed in an automobile accident, my cousin was not wearing a seatbelt.
Please, don’t put your family through that tragic event, remember to wear a seatbelt every time you get into a vehicle.
