Popular Greek Food Restaurant In East Texas Closes Its Doors
East Texas Has A Wide Variety Of Food Options Even If We Don't Have A Lot Of Them Like Dallas or Houston But Unfortunately We've Lost Another Locally Owned Option.
While Tyler continues to see growth, one of the problems with said "growth" is that some folks will get pushed out of the way and its sad to see and hear. More and more "developers" are looking at East Texas as the next gold mine and that spells trouble for a few locally owned businesses.
Earlier This Month It Was Announced That Putt-Putt Golf Was Closing.
We told you earlier this month that after more than 60 years in business, Putt-Putt Golf and Games in Tyler was closing their doors for good. The news brought shock to many families and residents who frequented the family fun center.
The reason for the closure was due to a Tyler based commercial real estate company deciding to sell the property that Putt-Putt sits on for another business opportunity. Putt-Putt was given the opportunity to purchase the property but declined.
Now, Popular Greek Restaurant Athena Is Closing.
This week, patrons of popular Greek-American Restaurant Athena in Tyler were surprised to find the doors locked and the location closed with a note posted on the door announcing the restaurant's closure.
The note expresses gratitude and thanks to patrons and friends and also revealed the reason for their closure: The Restaurant And Building Was Brought By A Developer....same as Putt-Putt.
Athena First Opened In 2014.
There seems to be a rush on commercial properties on the Loop now and developers are paying top dollar to move some of the businesses out of the way for new ones. While there's still a few places where you can get some great Greek food, its unfortunately the "cost of doing business".
