The Familiar Red Kettles Are Out And The Bells Are Now Ringing In Tyler, Texas
The familiar red kettle hanging from a tripod and the sound of a lone holiday bell began ringing today and greeting shoppers at Broadway Square Mall in Tyler, Texas as the Tyler chapter of the Salvation Army kicked off their annual Red Kettle Campaign today.
The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign is the primary fundraising initiative of the organization during the holiday season and every donation that is placed in the kettle remains in the local community. Volunteers will be manning these locations from today through December 23rd and they'll be greeting us with holiday messages along with the sound of the bell.
While it may be one or two locations for now, there will eventually be 43 locations around Tyler where you'll hear those bells to make that donation. More locations will be activated the week of Thanksgiving.
The Red Kettle national campaign officially kicks off during half-time of the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game. This year the Cowboys are taking on the Washington Commanders Thanksgiving Day and you can see that game at 3:30p on CBS.
