Law enforcement in Texas doesn’t mess around, if you commit a crime there will be swift and harsh consequences to deal with.

One Texas inmate is going to face that reality in just days as TDCJ Inmate number 99051, David Wood is scheduled for execution on Thursday, March 13th, 2025.

This Inmate Has Been on Death Row for a Long Time

David Wood was born on June 6th, 1957, making him 67 years old. And he received his sentencing in June of 1988, meaning he has been on death row for over 36 years.

What Crimes Did Wood Commit?

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice gives lots of information on their website including details on death row inmates.

After a simple search I found that Wood was convicted of abducting and stabbing 24-year-old Ivy Susanna Williams of El Paso, Texas.

The victim in this case was one of six female murder victims found in the desert around El Paso from June to August in 1987.

Wood also faced charges in each of the five other murders.

Prior to this charge, he had charges including indecency with a child, sexual assault, and rape.

Previous Execution Halted in 2009

Wood was scheduled for execution on August 20th, 2009, but that was halted to see if he was mentally disabled.

In 2014 that claim was rejected by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals according to Yahoo.

In August of 2024, the new execution date was set by the 171st District Court of El Paso County. Wood will be put to death in the Huntsville Unit death chamber.
