Today is 4/20, the day for stoners to celebrate, but unfortunately for us here in Texas, the devil's lettuce is STILL ILLEGAL because politicians and private prisons are in bed together making money for locking people up for it, pardon me, because it hasn't been legalized yet. So let this story serve as a reminder to you today to be careful out there "rolling down the street smoking indo" because you could be "indoors" at a nearby jail.

The Smith County Sheriff's Office Was Involved In Another Pursuit This Week.

We told you about Jonathan Lizarraga-Romero who lead Smith County cops on a high speed chase from Bullard through Jacksonville, Whitehouse and Tyler before running into an apartment complex and taking a shot at a deputy in pursuit. You can read more details about that story here. That chase started sometime around approximately 12:45 am on April 19th.

Roughly 12 Hours Later, Another Smith County Deputy Pursuit Began.

Later in the day at 1:37 pm, a Smith County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria on Bellwood Lake Road near Hwy 31 West. After making contact with the driver, the Deputy smelled an odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, the driver sped away north on Bellwood Lake Road. The driver crossed Hwy 31 West onto Eisenhower Drive continuing north toward Hwy 64 West. He then ran the stop sign on Eisenhower at 64 West causing a crash with two separate vehicles. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported at the crash scene.

Cops Arrested 23 Year Old Jose Angel Pinal Of Tyler

The driver was identified as Jose Angel Pinal who according to police, also attempted to flee as the Deputy chased him on foot. The Deputy was able to catch the driver and attempted to take him into custody. He resisted the Deputy’s efforts to restrain him but was finally handcuffed and taken into custody according to the report. A female passenger described as Hispanic or mixed race, wearing a pink halter top and shorts, had exited the vehicle and was seen fleeing in a southeast direction. She remains at large.

Jose Pinal was incarcerated in the Smith County Jail on charges of Evading Arrest with a Vehicle (Prior Conviction), Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free Zone. Additionally, Pinal had a warrant for Evading Arrest with a Vehicle (Prior Conviction) out of Tyler PD.
