Most of us have been on an airline flight going somewhere, leaving out of Texas, hopefully you were going somewhere fun. But going to the airport can be fun and a little stressful.

After dealing with traffic and finding a parking spot, you then get to make sure your luggage is good for the flight. That could mean checking a bag or carrying your items onto your flight. Once you finally get on your flight there is still important information you need to hear.

The Flight Announcements Are Important

Again, most of us have sat through the nice flight attendants telling us how to fasten our seatbelt and what to do in case of an emergency on the flight. But then the pilot or flight attendant will ask that all passengers put their cell phone into “airplane mode”. But why?

Disaster Won’t Strike Over “Airplane Mode”

Recently a U.S. airline pilot and Army veteran with the TikTok handle @Perchpoint took to social media to explain why passengers are asked to put their phone into “airplane mode.”

This is the Honest Truth We Needed from Airline Companies

We all knew that leaving our phones in normal mode and not switching to “airplane mode” was not going to make the plane crash. But if we know that making that switch will make the flight and communication better for the pilot that is a simple request.

Call me crazy, but it seems like airline companies should have just said this from the beginning. The truth would have probably gotten better compliance from passengers, but it’s good to know why they make that request.
