After Rescue, Dogs From Texas Fighting Ring Seek Second Chance
(Tyler, TX) In September 2024, a shocking dog fighting was uncovered in Tyler that sent the community into outrage as we learned about the condition most of the dogs were found in.
Kerry Jones and Michael Jones were both arrested for cruelty to non-livestock animals in connection to the ring. A group of nearly 60 dogs were found scattered around the property and the dogs were in such bad conditions that many of them were wounded and 11 of them had to be euthanized.
When the story went viral, people from all across the country tried to reach out to the Smith County Animal Control and Shelter and the good folks over at Nicolas Pet Haven to help the remaining dogs find loving homes.
But the dogs needed time to heal and rehab from the horrific conditions they were kept in. We're so thankful to learn from the Smith County Animal Control & Shelter on Meta that 11 of those rescued dogs are now ready for adoption!
When you see these "before and after" photos of these dogs getting a new leash on life, smiling and happy compared to how they were found, it will warm your heart. Take a look at the photos below and if you're interested in loving on these furbabies, contact the shelter at 322 E Ferguson St. in Tyler, or call them at 903-266-4303.
You can even get started on adoption paperwork if you're ready by filling out an adoption application online here.
