Highly Anticpated Entertainment Center Cinergy Has Cancelled Plans for Tyler
Last year, we got word of Cinergy Entertainment bringing their mix of bowling, arcade and more to The Village at Cumberland Park. Since Studio Movie Grill was already there, an agreement was made not to include a theater, which is usually a part of Cinergy's entertainment.
But, the company has rethought the idea and has decided not to build in Tyler according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph.
Cinergy spokesperson Traci Hoey issued a statement saying:
While we fell in love with the Tyler market and agree that it needs an entertainment center, we felt that we have to stay true to the Cinergy concept which includes the cinema. After opening our Odessa facility, we are firmly convinced that the cinema is a required component of a Cinergy. In this specific location we would not be able to offer a cinema in our development center due to the existing cinemas in the area. Thus, we have decided to not move forward with the project.
Other options are being looked at, though.
The Retail Connection manages The Village at Cumberland Park. Matt Wilson of The Retail Connection said, "There is nothing in our contract with Studio Movie Grill preventing a bowling alley. We are surprised that a full bowling and entertainment concept has not pulled the trigger on Tyler yet. It is a perfect market. We are continuing our efforts to lock one down, and are currently in negotiations with a concept which doesn’t have bowling but has pretty much everything else."
This is still a bummer. More entertainment options are needed in Tyler. I hope something can worked out. I know with something like this that my weekends would be booked.
