Next Time There’s an Ice Storm in East Texas, Use This Site for Road Closures
(Lindale, Texas) - Last week at this time, we were iced in in East Texas. The snow and ice storm made driving pretty much impossible. It took a couple of days, but the roads finally cleared up and we were able to get out of the house and to work or the store.
We saw many posts online of people asking how the roads were in a certain area. Those people were hoping to get a first-hand account from someone who got out on those roads. There is a website available that will tell us, in real time, the conditions of the roads during severe weather nor other event.
Website Available to Give Us Real Time Road Conditions
The website is drivetexas.org and it has a plethora of information regarding the roads in your area. This information could be for a real time event like an accident to construction to ice or flooding that is making a road impassible. For the recent ice storm, you would have been able to see which roads were undrivable around you.
The website will let you specifically target any ice and/or snow that could be on the ground. Using that information will help you determine if it will be safe for you to get out onto the roadways to get to work or get to the store. You can also use it during a rain storm that is dumping several inches of water on the road, causing them to flood.

Use the Website to Find About Road Closures
We are no strangers to severe weather in East Texas. We're more familiar with tornadoes than snow but will get the occasional winter precipitation that'll last for a couple of days. Use drivetexas.org to help determine if you can make a safe trip wherever you need to go.
Luckily, we won't need it this weekend as it'll be sunny and in the 70s for highs both tomorrow and Sunday. Enjoy.
