It’s stories like this that remind me of how lucky we are to have such great law enforcement officers here in East Texas and specifically in Palestine, Texas where this incident took place.

It was Sunday, June 11th when Cpl Nathan Perkins and his K-9 partner Hera were working a normal patrol shift and noticed a vehicle that caught their attention. They were located in southern Palestine on Crockett Road when they conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle as it had an expired registration.

After Cpl Perkins made contact with the driver who was identified as 46-year-old Robert Robison, he admitted that his driver's license was suspended and used his TDCJ offender card to identify himself. He was immediately placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license. At that time K-9 Hera was used to conduct an open-air sniff and it didn’t take long until the K-9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance.

That’s When the Search Really Got Started

Once the K-9 officer alerted on the vehicle Cpl Perkins entered the vehicle and found a syringe loaded with methamphetamine under the center console of the vehicle. There were also several blue pills suspected to be counterfeit Alprazolam, those were located in a backpack in the front passenger seat.

But Wait There Was More Drugs Found

After being transported to the Anderson County Jail for booking during the search at the jail personnel found four bags of methamphetamine which was a total of 80 grams. The drugs were being concealed in a sunglasses bag in the offender's groin area.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
