Palestine, Texas Man Arrested in Child Exploitation Investigation

(KNUE-FM) Last week there was a man in Palestine, Texas who was taken into custody by the Palestine Police Department after an investigation showed that he was allegedly promoting child pornography.

Who Was Arrested in Palestine, Texas?

The man arrested was identified as 27-year-old Juan Carlos Torres.

According to KETK, this arrest was conducted after receiving several reports of an individual on Crestline Drive that was uploading, downloading and distributing child sexual abuse material online. Since being arrested, Torres was booked into the Anderson County Jail on charges of promotion of child pornography, and is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.

How Investigators Traced the Online Activity

The investigation began after reports from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force alerted local police to the alleged online activity. That is when the investigation led police to identify the IP address used to upload the images, which was traced to a specific residence.

While law enforcement didn’t share many details about this investigation, law enforcement officials emphasized their commitment to investigating these cases thoroughly.

The Palestine Police Department has said they will continue to be committed to protecting children through aggressive investigation and prosecution of those involved with child exploitation.

Bond Set at $500,000 in Anderson County

According to Anderson County Jail records, it looks like the suspect is still in custody and his total bond at this point is $500,000.
