Ah yes, tomorrow's the big day: The Return of the Great Pumpkin Spice Latte, Charlie Brown. (Cue dramatic crescendo-ing music.) I guess that'll make it officially fall, no matter what the silly calendar says. ;)

I'll admit, in the first few years of the pumpkin spice mania, I just about burned myself out on the cornucopia of induced fall flavors contained within that signature cup. I had to take a step back for awhile and order more benign options like a plain cappuccino. But this year, I'm looking forward to it once again.

However, I'm particularly looking forward to the addition of a NEW option for PSL lovers: The Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew.

I've fallen quite in love with the new cold brew options at Starbucks, as many of us have. CNN Business reports that "cold drinks are growing in popularity for Starbucks. They made up more than half of the company's sales last year...Starbucks credited cold drinks, like cold brew coffees, for bolstering its bottom line and helping to kick start sales in the afternoon, which previously has been a sore spot for the company."

The cold brews are further attractive because they have fewer calories and grams of sugar, which many of us find helpful in our ongoing efforts to stay on a health-conscious track. Starbucks' nutrition info shows a "16 oz Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew has 250 calories and 31 grams of sugar, while a same-size hot Pumpkin Spice Latte has 380 calories and 50 grams of sugar." That's a significant difference when it all adds up--which it does.

What else arrives tomorrow? The Salted Caramel Mocha returns, as well as those pumpkin-y baked items including the pumpkin cream cheese muffin and scone. Yum.

Hey, one more reason to try the new Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew as of August 27? Because, as you may have noticed it's still just a *tad* bit warm outside in East Texas. Enjoy. ;)
