It’s not shocking to hear about drivers in Texas doing things that are dangerous. This could happen on the Interstate, down a backroad, or on the most popular streets in town. And if you’ve driving down South Broadway in Tyler, Texas on a Saturday night recently you know how crazy people can get.

Street Racing on Broadway in Tyler, Texas

Over the past two weekends I have ended up driving on South Broadway on Saturday night, and it's alarming how crazy people are driving down the most heavily traveled road in Tyler. It’s like people think that Broadway turns into the Autobahn.

The Dangers of Racing in Tyler

I’m not here to talk down to anyone, I remember speeding at times when I was a younger driver. But it was just a couple of weekends ago that I saw the dangerous driving end in a crash right in front of my eyes.

I was grabbing Panda Express for dinner, and I noticed a vehicle speeding down Broadway to get through that light by Target and Walmart. The light turned red, and the vehicle sped through the intersection and crashed into an SUV turning left out of that stoplight by KFC.

It was bad, you could tell both parties were shaken up.

Street Racing Needs to Stop

Beyond the crash, there were multiple people racing down Broadway. It’s like drivers were acting like when the light turns green that indicates the start of a race.

Police don’t have the time to sit on Broadway all night to make sure grown adults can obey traffic laws. It’s absurd that people don’t realize how quickly you could end your life or someone else’s.

Unfortunately, I lost a cousin due to a crash that was avoidable. Don’t put your family through that pain.
