East Texans will want to be weather aware Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning.

The changing of the season once again brings the chance of severe weather in to East Texas. Our area has already been dealt its fair share of severe weather so far this year, especially last weekend when Alto was hit by two separate tornadoes within a ninety minute period. With this scene fresh on our minds, we'll definitely want to pay attention to all weather warnings.

There is the chance of severe weather to move through East Texas Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning (April 17th and 18th). The Storm Prediction Center has once again placed portions of East Texas in the enhanced risk category for the possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms to develop along a cold front that will be moving through the area. This enhanced risk means there is a 30% chance of significant severe weather to move through.

KLTV 7 Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto says the major threats from this storm system will be strong winds and large hail with the tornado and flooding threat low on the spectrum, but still a possibility. In the event that severe weather does break out we will keep you informed and up to date with the KLTV 7 First Alert Weather Center.
