Texas Police Officer Arrested on Charges of Child Pornography

We have some of the best law enforcement officers here in the state of Texas. Men and women who show up each day attempting to protect and serve our communities.  

But just like in every profession there are a few people that choose to make some horrible decisions and there are consequences for those actions. 

Eustace Police Officer Arrested on Child Pornography Charges 

According to KETK, a former police officer in Eustace, Texas was arrested after MediaLab Inc. who owns the platform Kik, contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about three videos showing minors engaging in sexual activities were uploaded to their platform.  

This took place on June 13, 2024. The email account information along with the associated IP address were also recorded.  

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Took Action 

On November 14th the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office contacted Optimum regarding the investigation, specifically about the IP address that was used.  

Investigators Found All the Evidence Needed 

After collecting all the evidence investigators were able to find screenshots of infant and young child pornography as well as photos of a white male sitting in a car that looked like a police vehicle. In fact, there were multiple photos found of the suspect. 

Eustace Mayor, Dustin Shelton was able to identify the suspect as someone who worked for the police department, 32-year-old, Cody Mitchell Burris. 

Burris was arrested and charged with four counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of possession with intent to promote child pornography. His bond was set at $575,000.  

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
