Tyler Turned Pink on Tuesday

Businesses, organizations and citizens turned out in large numbers wearing pink yesterday in Downtown Tyler in support of women who have battled and are currently battling cancer for Turn Tyler Pink.

An event that began with the efforts of Tyler firefighters has grown into a community celebration or encouragement through the work of many. Carter Blood Care's Jessica Whitehead led a team of volunteers to organize the event which included support from each of the hospitals in the Tyler area, and local cancer support organizations.

Citizens heard stories of encouragement, and were given information from various groups to help guide them through their fight.
