As the great state of Texas continues the process of re-opening more of our East Texas businesses as we begin the, what I imagine will be, a long ongoing process, many of us are looking forward to returning to what feels more like a state of normalcy.

This is wonderful and much needed to boost our East Texas economy. At the same time, we want to continue to do all that we can to stay safe. If you do decide to venture out, please keep practicing social distancing as much as you can. Even if we are among the fortunate who never contract COVID-19, or even if we do, we remain asymptomatic, let's do it for those around us who may be more vulnerable.

Thank you so much to all of those working on the "front lines" during this pandemic--which includes our medical professionals, of course. But also, anyone who is caring for someone at home and anyone working in any capacity--anywhere--where you are compelled to come into contact with people on a daily basis.

Also, it's Mother's Day weekend. All of us here are sending love to all the Mothers in East Texas, both biological and those who've been maternal figures throughout our lives. Your love and care are priceless and you make this world, and the health of all of those in it, even more precious.

PSA for all of us: Keep. Washing. Your. Hands. Hey, your mothers would say the same thing.
